Another Workshop?

Arlund Workshops became a reality because of a couple of things.

But first…

Really? Do we need yet another photographer putting on a workshop?  Well I am all for learning and so can there really be enough workshops?

There has been a lot of talk going on with the influx of amateurs and people new to photography getting some quick success and then going out  and teaching. The reception is not always as great as perceived.  I want to assure you that I have been photographing for well over 10 years and have been teaching college for 3 years.

So why are you doing this? Here is the short story.

I was asked to, and I honestly love teaching. I teach college here in Tennessee at O’More college of Design and also at the Nashville Film Institute.

Share the wealth, I do not hide anything and do not mind sharing everything that I have learned about photography or anything else for that matter. I decided to start doing one on one mentor sessions with some photographers and I have had really great feedback from that. I got a call from Christine at Finao albums and she wanted me to come up and teach a workshop at the Finao headquarters. I felt the time was right.

I have asked a lot of photographer friends that attend a lot of workshops to tell me their experiences and the pros and cons. I want to make my workshop as different as possible form some of the others that are available.

I have decided on a very hands on college like approach. Salon style. Lots of shooting and group critique. I look back and feel I learned the most by having to analyze my own photographs in college crit class. I think photography should be intuitive. Critique forces you to look at the artistic components of an image and really break it down. I learn more from being involved in critique.

So that is the story. I hope to have a very fun interactive set of workshops all over the world.

If you would like to be a host studio please contact me, I will look into any idea.
